Vista wont recognise my external hard drive




















Yep - that was it! No one knew from the manufacturer or in their FAQ! Hope this is your solution, too. If you don't mind we can test it on the next Poster that has that particular problem. Sharing a Drive has other benefits as well. The hard drive device has apparently installed, but access to the file system other than the ability to delete the partition and create a Windows supported file system will not be available until software that supports the partition is used.

I'm trying to access them from a laptop running Vista Home Basic. I've downloaded a program caled HFSExplorer that should serve my purposes I only need to read from the drive; not write to it.
