Vista wont recognise my external hard drive

Yep - that was it! No one knew from the manufacturer or in their FAQ! Hope this is your solution, too. If you don't mind we can test it on the next Poster that has that particular problem. The hard drive device has apparently installed, but access to the file system other than the ability to delete the partition and create a Windows supported file system will not be available until software that supports the partition is used.
