Fsu blackout game 2010

Then in week two we recalled a win that felt like a loss We start in The dynasty is in full swing and FSU is, unbeknownst at the time, sandwiched between two national titles. Scoring on six consecutive first half possessions, FSU hit the 70 mark for the third time that season, demolishing Wake Forest Kannell came up one TD pass short of tying the school record of six, with four of his five strikes coming in the 2nd quarter.

As you can imagine, quite a few young guys saw action in the blowout. Nearly two decades later, Florida State traveled to Winston-Salem in the middle of what would become its third national title winning season. This time it was the defense that set the tone early Featuring a ridiculously talented secondary, the Seminoles intercepted Wake Forest quarterbacks six times, including one taken to the house by freshman Nate Andrews. Not to be outdone, fellow freshman Jalen Ramsey nabbed a scoop-and-score two plays later to give FSU a lead—with nearly 14 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

That said, I also remember the first blackout against FSU, which Maryland won and which will forever be the Jeremy Navarre game in my mind. I won't deny that there's something electric about a night game with the potential importance that this game will have plus a blackout, especially with the cold and wind as piercing as they were that night; I'm just saying I'm conflicted.

Anyway, one more thing to the Super-Fans out there: this is the one game that everyone should just have. Forget for the time leading up to it that Maryland will probably lose. Forget the inherent problems with the team. Forget that Friedgen and Franklin have made you hate them in the past and will probably do so in the future. As long as Maryland can take care of UVA, this is the one game with the right set of circumstances - divisional implications, a hated opponent, at home, at night, on semi-national TV, and a blackout - to make me look at it more as a fan than a blogger.

I've been to both of the Blackout games, versus Boston College in and Duke in Though ESPN took no mercy against FSU fans in and scheduled the game for in October, where wearing black at mid-day can still get warm, last year's Homecoming game against Duke kicked off at night where there was a different atmosphere for the uniforms.
